James Irvine (1958–2013) was a London-born product and furniture designer working in Milan. Prominent clients included Mercedes-Benz, Muji, Thonet, B&B Italia, Cappellini and Canon. Early in his career he was working for Olivetti and Toshiba (in Tokyo) and was partner of Sottsass Associati. James Irvine was highly respected by fellow colleagues and to many he was the ‘designer’s designer’. He was a dear and close friend of Claesson Koivisto Rune.
